Considered one of Handel's greatest operas, Alcina is a powerful and musically delightful piece depicting a desperate confrontation between a siren; the beautiful and mysterious Alcina and a mortal; the worthy girl-next-door Bradamante. Can love conquer lust and the natural overcome the enchanted? Or will the pursuit of sensual pleasure rule the day?
Alcina boasts a powerful cast including Irish soprano Sinead Campbell-Wallace (Alcina), Irish Mezzo-Soprano Doreen Curran (Bradamante), Steven Wallace (Ruggiero), Jane Harrington (Morgana), Julian Hubbard (Melisso) and Ed Lyon (Oronte).
